Kimberose

Her voice instantly summons up the memories of painful jazz and soul divas, from Billie Holiday to Amy Winehouse to Nina Simone. Kimberly Kitson Mills is a staggering singer, a whirlwind of feeling, revisiting the now ancient music of soul to give it new vigour and nerve. She has always written, short stories, scattered texts, before daring to tackle songs. For it took a long time before Kimber dared. She had to work on her repertoire with Anthony and his acolytes. At 26, Kimberose, a young French immigrant (her father is English and her mother is an immigrant from Ghana to Paris), is ready and armed to share this evidence: the music of the soul still has so much to say, and so many ecstasies to offer. Spotted, Kimberose (for Kimber ose, “ose” meaning dare in french) records a 4 track EP, which earns her a noticed appearance in “Taratata”, in “C à vous”, then in other TV shows. His EP immediately ranked in the best French sales. If Kimberose’s EP and live performances remained in a very classical style, her first opus dares to borrow from more modern, pop territories, but in the opposite direction of formatting.
