Gucci and Harry Styles collaborate on the ‘HA HA HA’ collection

Harry Styles, the British singer-songwriter and actor, is featured in the Gucci ‘HA HA HA’ campaign.

Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele and Harry have collaborated to create “a collection born from a creative relationship that self-generates from amusement and ends with the tangibility of a product”. In recognition of their long-standing friendship is born ‘HA HA HA’. The word is a play on the word “hahaha,” which is how Michele and Styles have traditionally concluded their text conversations for years.

On that note Harry comments; “I’m so happy to see this project finally come to life. I’ve known Alessandro for years now, and he’s always been one of my favourite people. I’m always inspired watching him work, so doing this collaboration with my friend was very special to me.”

The collection, which was unveiled during Men’s Fashion Week in Milan, features charming ‘Styles-esque‘ motifs like grumpy teddy bear prints, leaping lambs, love hearts, and, of course, cherries, along with vintage-inspired designs and impeccable craftsmanship. It makes use of menswear as an avant-garde tool. Even with the absence of pearl necklaces and pussybow blouses, Styles’ debut collection is unabashedly Gucci, and the Harry influence that permeates the entire line is obvious.

Harry’s style has been credited to Michele for changing from a beanie-wearing boy band member to the newest fashion darling. Michele described how the process began: ‘The idea of working together came to me one day while we were talking on the phone, I proposed creating a ‘dream wardrobe‘ with him, starting from those small oddities that come together in childlike visions. We ended up with a mix of aesthetics from 1970s pop and bohemian to the revision of the image of the gentleman in an overturned memory of men’s tailoring.’
